My Samgyup Adventure: A Run for Love (and a Lost Phone!)

My Samgyup Adventure: A Run for Love (and a Lost Phone!)

So, there I was, in Mandaluyong, craving the new Korean Samgyup place in Imus, Cavite. My sister Badet was meeting me later, around 5 PM, so I decided to take the bus from PITX, enjoying the usual commute routine: Spotify playlist on, and of course, those inevitable chicken naps. I must have slept like a log because the next thing I knew, I woke up in Cavitex, then blinked and I was in SM Bacoor. Another blink, and BAM! – I was in Anabu, the bus conductor already yelling about the stop. I got off the bus in Anabu, Imus, and that's when I realized my spare phone was missing.

Panic mode engaged. I frantically checked my phone – only my main phone was there, still blasting my Spotify playlist. My spare phone? Gone. My backpack? Empty. Crossbody bag? Nada. Pants pockets? Zilch. In a split second, a primal instinct kicked in: CHASE THE BUS!

Picture this: me, sprinting after a moving bus like my life depended on it. (Insert Kitchie Nadal's "Run" here – that perfectly captures the moment!) Half a kilometer later, lungs burning, legs screaming, I was still chasing that darn bus. Just when I thought all hope was lost, destiny intervened. The bus stopped at the District Imus intersection, the traffic light showing a merciful 60 seconds. I was gasping for air, my feet on fire, but quitting wasn't an option. I wanted to yell, "STOP THE BUS!" to every car and person around, but my voice had deserted me.

With the countdown ticking down to 30 seconds, pure adrenaline took over. I sprinted again, every ounce of strength I had left pouring into my legs. I reached the bus, breathlessly telling the conductor I'd left my phone. Suddenly, I was the main character in my own action movie. All eyes were on me as I scrambled back to my seat. And guess what? My phone was there, tucked safely between the seat cushions! The woman sitting there had found it and was holding it out to me.

As I got off the bus, I was met with a chorus of cheers from the passengers, driver, and conductor. They were all so supportive, reminding me to take care of myself and my phone. Feeling like a champion (and slightly delirious), I treated myself to a medium LlaoLlao yogurt at District Imus Mall. While enjoying that tangy goodness, I realized just how far I'd run for a Samgyup meal…and for my phone. But mostly for love. The love of Samgyup, of course! 😉
